Biography

My name is Dianne Pupo Gomez and I am a Cuban student pursuing my studies at the Université de Sherbrooke. During my initial training as a microbiologist in my country, I worked on the entry mechanism of the Dengue virus. I completed an M.Sc. in Biotechnology and after that, in 2018 I was happily accepted to do a master's degree in the laboratory of Prof. François Boudreau. Later in 2021, I started a Ph.D. in Cell Biology. Presently, my research interests include exploring inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), which seeks to uncover new insights into its causes and potential treatments. Specifically, my project has been focused on understanding how the transcriptional factor HNF4A is involved in the defense of the intestinal epithelial barrier against different inflammatory stimuli. Beyond the laboratory, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, cooking, hiking, dancing, reading, and exploring new cultures.
