Dr. Caroline Cameron is a Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Microbiology at the University of Victoria and an Affiliate Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Washington. Caroline joined the University of Victoria as a Canada Research Chair, and her research program focuses on studying the pathogenesis of the bacterium that causes syphilis. Caroline is passionate about researching globally relevant diseases that cause health disparities around the world, and mentoring the next generation of scientists across Canada and the world to combat this disease. Outside of work Caroline's passions are spending time with her family (two children, partner, dog and two cats), hiking, skiing and advocacy for preservation of wildlife habitat and species biodiversity.
