I am currently working as a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of British Columbia at Okanagan. My research is focused on the interaction of the genetically engineered probiotic BioPersist™ with pre-established bacterial communities in the gut environment. Specifically, I am studying how this interaction affects colitis severity and its comorbidities in the presence of microbiota from a Mediterranean dietary pattern (MDP) or a western dietary pattern. Prior to this, I completed my PhD in nutrition and metabolism at the University of Alberta, where I investigated the effects of different types of dairy products on lipid and glucose metabolism in an obese mouse model.
