Biography

Dr. Ana Teresa Limon-Miro is a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Alberta, co-supervised by Dr. Puneeta Tandon and Dr. Carla Prado. Her research focuses on the precise measurement of body composition and energy metabolism in people with chronic diseases, particularly cirrhosis and obesity, using state-of-the-art techniques available at the University of Alberta Human Nutrition Research Unit. Ana is leading the world's first study to measure free-living total energy expenditure in specific liver conditions, aiming to revolutionize nutritional care for these individuals. Originally from Hermosillo, Mexico, Ana holds a Ph.D. in Sciences and a Masters in Health Sciences, leading interventions for breast cancer patients focused on sarcopenic obesity prevention and innovative research using stable isotope techniques. Beyond her research, Ana finds fulfilment in mentoring students and working collaboratively. Off the lab, she enjoys traveling, exploring art museums, and attending theater performances.
