Dr. Yaqi Zhang is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Faculty of Medicine, University of British Columbia, BC Children's Hospital Research Institute, under the supervision of Dr. Bruce Vallance. She earned her Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics from the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Sciences, specializing in the development of intestine-targeted bile acid receptor agonists and translational research. In her postdoctoral work, she focuses on host-bile acid interactions and mitochondrial dysfunction using human-derived intestinal organoid models to uncover molecular mechanisms underlying gut health, metabolic diseases, and Crohn's disease. She has expertise in organoid models, gastrointestinal-targeted drug delivery, molecular imaging, pharmacology, and translational science, bridging these disciplines to develop innovative strategies for restoring intestinal homeostasis.
