Tyler obtained his Bachelor's degree from McMaster University in Biology & Pharmacology with a minor in Biochemistry. He is currently investigating the effects of chronic food dye exposure on the gut microbiome and intestinal inflammation. His motivation for conducting research stems from a deep curiosity about understanding complex biological processes as well as improving health outcomes, especially in the field of gastroenterology, which has personal significance to him. Mentoring has always been a passion of his, as he believes in the importance of guiding others along their academic paths. He also enjoys witnessing the growth of students and colleagues as they overcome challenges and reach new milestones. He also values networking to foster collaborations, exchange ideas, and stay connected with the scientific community, allowing him to continuously learn and build relationships with others. Outside of the laboratory, Tyler likes to watch and play sports. He particularly enjoys playing hockey!
