Thomas Guerbette completed an engineering diploma in agronomy from L'Institut Agro (Rennes, France) and a master's degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Rennes. He obtained his PhD from the University of Rennes in 2023, where his research focused on the effects of high-fat diet consumption on mitochondrial function in intestinal epithelial cells and its impact on intestinal homeostasis. Aiming to pursue an academic career, Thomas joined Dr. Michaël Shum's lab at the CHU de Québec-Université Laval Research Center (Canada) as a postdoctoral fellow in 2023. His current research investigates the reprogramming of mitochondrial subpopulations in enterocytes in response to high-fat diets, with a particular focus on how mitochondria interact with lipid droplets in the intestine during the progression of metabolic syndrome. Outside of the lab, Thomas enjoys spending time with friends and family, especially hiking or playing video games.
