Dr. Lesack is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Calgary who holds a MSc degree in Bioinformatics and a PhD degree in Veterinary Medical Sciences. His passion for improving the lives of inflammatory bowel disease patients is reinforced by his volunteer work with Crohn's and Colitis Canada, and his decision to transition into Crohn's disease research after completing his PhD. He gained a strong background in data science through his past research on optimization and quality assurance in bioinformatics, which he is currently applying towards the discovery of biomarkers in stricturing Crohn's disease. He is also passionate about sharing his love of science with a wide range of audiences and has made numerous contributions to public outreach materials and educational events. As a TRIANGLE fellow, he aspires to further diversify his data science toolset and to pursue networking and career development opportunities.
