Hi! My name is Ashim, and I started my PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology with Dr. Franck Duong at the University of British Columbia in 2024. My current research focuses on the use of membrane mimetics to develop new methodologies for studying liver diseases through membrane proteome profiling. What excites me is the novelty of this approach and how it integrates three fields, membrane mimetics, mass spectrometry, and liver disease, that each enrich the others and generate insights otherwise unattainable. Much of the success I have experienced in life is only due to the mentorship and support of friends and colleagues, and I strive to pay that forward, whether through mentoring, teaching, student leadership, or even casual events like pickup sports. Outside of science, I love community building, playing soccer, exposing myself to new situations that push me outside my comfort zone, and sharing and hearing people's stories and life experiences.
