Samantha (Sam) Micsinszki, PhD, RN, is the Training Director of the CanChild Family Engagement in Research (FER) Program at McMaster University where she supports the implementation of a dynamic and innovative family engagement training program. During her postdoctoral work at McMaster's Centre for Equity-Based Co-Creation, Sam gained specialized training in engagement, equity-based co-design methodology, and family-centered research approaches, with a specific focus on populations that are often excluded in health and social services research. After a diagnosis of Crohn's disease in 2021, and multiple ongoing interactions with the health system as a result, she is keen to advance patient care and enhance service delivery by fostering meaningful engagement of families throughout the research process. In her spare time, she loves to bake, exercise, organize, and binge watch TV shows (and is always looking for something new to watch!).
