Mary Vyas is currently an active patient advocate and patient partner, focusing on bringing patient perspectives to research related to PSC and liver transplantation. Previously, Mary served for over a decade as Co-Founder and President of PSC Partners Seeking a Cure Canada, the Canadian affiliate of PSC Partners, where I led efforts to raise funds supporting novel medical research for PSC treatments and a cure. During her tenure, served as a patient-partner Principal Investigator for a research grant from the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, aimed at clarifying the cellular mechanisms of paediatric PSC and identifying potential targets for effective therapies. Mary also contributes as a patient-partner co-investigator and collaborator on several PSC-related research initiatives. Mary's commitment to this work is deeply personal, rooted in the profound impact PSC has had on her family’s life, and I continue to support the mission as a dedicated volunteer. Mary and her husband Jay are proud parents of two young adults. They spend their time between their home in Toronto, Canada, and their home away from home in San Francisco, California.
