Dr. Laura Sly is a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Gastroenterology at BC Children’s Hospital and the University of British Columbia. Her laboratory is interested in identifying and validating novel therapeutic targets or strategies to treat inflammatory bowel diseases and their complications. Her laboratory has expertise in macrophage activation and innate immunology. They have developed and characterized the SHIP deficient mouse model of Crohn's disease-like ileitis that they use to investigate foundational biology associated with inflammation, and as a model to interrogate novel drug targets and strategies that may be useful to treat Crohn’s disease.
