Kyra is commencing her PhD in Queen's University's Translational Medicine program, where she is researching novel biomarkers for inflammatory bowel disease in the neutrophil-macrophage axis as part of the Mulder Lab. In her master's research Kyra studied the role of p107 in myogenic stem cell DNA methylation, where she investigated the mechanisms through which this transcription factor regulates gene expression to preserve tissue growth and regeneration. This inspired her to continue to pursue an interest in genetics and dysregulatory disease, and CONNECT and Queen's University's Translational Medicine program provide an ideal opportunity to apply this passion towards the study of inflammatory conditions in a context that can make a real difference in the lives of patients. When Kyra is not taking photos of her dog, she is avidly crafting and finding new crafts to learn.
