Juan Nicolás Peña Sánchez is a physician by training from Colombia with a European Master of Public Health and a Ph.D. from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada. His collaborative and interdisciplinary research program aims to study and promote innovative healthcare approaches that address the needs of populations and overcome the challenges of the healthcare systems. Juan-Nicolás has research experience in the fields of public health, epidemiology, health services, and clinical research. He has experience working with community members to co-develop patient-oriented research initiatives. Juan-Nicolás has also been working in partnership with Indigenous community members at the national and international levels to advocate for better healthcare access and well-being. He currently serves as the Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity (EDI) Co-chair for the TRIANGLE program and supports the TRIANGLE Patient Advisory Committee. He loves to bike and travel with his wife and two children. His hobbies also include tennis and astronomy.
