Jocelyn Emmerson is a second-year medical student at Queen's University with a growing interest in gastrointestinal research, particularly within pediatric populations. She spent ten years growing up in Indonesia, where early exposure to health inequities, especially those affecting children, shaped her interest in advancing more equitable approaches to care. She completed her undergraduate degree in Life Sciences at Queen's in 2025, where she became increasingly interested in how biomedical research can inform prevention, patient experience, and long-term health outcomes. Jocelyn is now part of the Gastrointestinal Diseases Research Unit (GIDRU) working in the Mulder Research Group, contributing to projects that align with her interest in data-driven approaches to improving care. Her current research focus is on immune cell biomarkers of inflammatory bowel disease in efforts to advance early detection. Outside of academics, Jocelyn engages in dance training and maintains her formal education in violin and alto saxophone.
