Scientific Skills/Areas of Expertise:

Fernand-Pierre Gendron, PhD, is a biochemist and cell biologist specializing in signaling by G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), including nucleotides-activated P2Y and the stem cell marker LGR5. His primary research focuses on how epithelial cells respond to stress, including inflammation and cancer. Based at the Sherbrooke Institute of Pharmacology, his lab uses molecular pharmacology and cell biology techniques, combined with cell and animal models, and, more recently, 3D organoid models that mimic native organs in vitro to investigate how this family of receptors contributes to human diseases.
