Dr. Deanna Santer is an Assistant Professor at the University of Manitoba and she has been focused on learning about the human immune system throughout her training (BSc Honours Immunology and Infection, University of Alberta --> PhD Immunology, University of Washington). Her research group was founded at the end of 2020. Dr. Santer knew early on she loved biology and understanding how things worked, but she knew little of what being a researcher would be like when no one in her family was a scientist. With that in mind, she prioritizes outreach activities with those interested in learning more about STEM careers. She is also passionate about promoting women in science and scientific communication. Outside of work, Dr. Santer enjoys playing most sports and prioritizes family time with her husband and 2 children.
