Chiara Fricano is a graduate of McMaster University's Honours BSc. Biology and Psychology, Neuroscience, and Behaviour program. Her thesis project, under Dr. Elyanne Ratcliffe's supervision, collaborated with Western University to explore the impact of ∆9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) on the gut-brain axis of an adolescent rat model. TRIANGLE CONNECT will allow Chiara to revisit study limitations and to assess whether omega-3 fatty acid intervention can mitigate this impact. Chiara's experiences in clinical pediatric research, as co-chair of the annual NeuroXChange Conference, working in Nutrition Services at Juravinski Hospital, and other roles build a well-rounded perspective of the healthcare system and clear scientific communication as she works towards a career as a physician-researcher. Chiara participates in professional development with the Farncombe Institute, and plans to continue networking. Chiara's spare time is filled by reading, playing board games, figure skating, traveling, and slowing down to enjoy a coffee with her grandparents.
