I'm a Biochemistry student at Dalhousie University, with my current research focusing on bacterial genomics and bioinformatics. This year, I began a project on a bacteria strain involving culturing, PCR, DNA sequencing, genome mapping, and phylogenetic/metabolic reconstruction. I find this super interesting, especially since only a small fraction of bacteria have been classified, and many have potential applications in medicine and beyond. I'm particularly fascinated by the human microbiome and how bacteria affects our health, and I see this research as a great way to explore more medically focused genetics in the future. I think mentorship and building connections are essential to growing in this field, and I'm always eager to learn from people with more experience. Outside of academics, I love playing guitar, staying active, and constantly pushing myself to grow, whether through sports, music, or helping friends do the same. At the end of the day, I just love learning, discovering cool stuff, and the challenge that comes with it!
